Yesterday the Varsity squad took on the Cape Cod Academy Seahawks at our home field in Yarmouth.

The game got off to a slow start as the Navs struggled to make a play happen in our offensive end. Captain Sarah Walman (5 goals, 4 assists, 5 additional SOGs) led the scoring drive for West followed by Rachel Kilduff  who was responsible for 7 won possessions on the draw (5 goals, 2 assists, 2 additional SOGs)Captain Brigid Morrison fought for 5 possessions on the draw (1 assist, 4 SOGs). The Navs struggled to gain possession on ground balls and the Seahawks were quick to fly into our defensive end. Captain Chloe Bass swooped in with 6 draw possessions (4 goals, 2 assists, 2 additional SOGs). Center Sophie Cook worked hard on transition and had 4 possessions on the draw (3 goals, 3 additional SOGs)Olivia Noonan worked her magic around the net (4 goals, 2 assists, 5 additional SOGs) as did Danielle Gavin (2 goals, 2 additional SOGs). Ciara Morrison also got her stick into the action (1 goal, 1 assist, 1 additional SOG) as did Sinead Dolan (1 SOG) and Sarah Gavin (2 SOGs). At midfield, Lily Healy, Aradia Jacobson (1 SOG, 1 draw possesion) and Taylor Vasta worked hard on transitions and helped keep the Seahawks out of Navigator territory.

On the defensive end, Julianna ForesteireGabi BoucherKerry O'BrienIsabella Sweeney and Grace Pepe worked together to slow the Seahawks offense. Our amazing goalie Bri Sigel had 9 saves in net! We were also lucky enough to have several JV players suit up and Maddy Shaw, Emma Navarro, Emily O'Brien and Anya Ghai made great contributions to the game in their Varsity debut! Thanks to our A1 Manager Gemma Lombardozzi for doing the scoreboard, the book and the timer all on her own!

The final score was 24-11 Sturgis West and our record is 5-4. Although this was a "win" the girls identified several things that we need to improve upon before facing Mashpee on Thursday. As a result, Varsity will practice until 6:30 today.
